Skin Care Routines for Quarantine
- Posted on: Apr 16 2020
Has this quarantine has got you down? Feeling like it will never end? Well, it will, and in the meantime, let’s use some of this extra time on our hands to ramp up our skin care routine so that we come out of this looking radiant and beautiful.
Here are some suggestions for how you can make the most of this quarantine from a skin care perspective.
- Cleanse your Skin
Cleansing is the first and most basic step of skin care, so let’s go over how to cleanse skin properly. First, pick a cleanser that you love! If you don’t have one, don’t worry! We have several great cleansers you can choose from depending on your skin type and preferences. Our Botanical Gel Cleanser is a general cleanser, perfect for all skin types. Our Rejuva Gel Anti-Aging Cleanser is great anti-aging product for normal, combination or oily skin because it has 10% glycolic acid to reduce oil production, brighten and exfoliate your skin. If, however, you have dry or sensitive skin, we recommend you use our Gentle Cream Cleanser.
To use a cleanser, pump a quarter size amount of product into the palm of your hand, and using warm water, begin to wash your face by using your fingertips to massage in a circular motion. It is important to use warm water to soften the skin and open pores, resulting in a deeper cleanse. After a minute of massaging the cleanser on your face, rinse it off and pat your face gently dry with a towel.
- Try a Facial Peel at Home!
An at-home peel can improve your skin care routine in a hurry, by smoothing out wrinkles, reducing the appearance of blemishes, and giving your skin a healthy glow. Our Azul skincare line has several products that will accomplish these goals. If you have normal, combination or oily skin, we recommend the Revive Mask. Complete with Vitamin A, Lactic Acid and Papain /Bromelain Enzymes, this mask works like a home peel to exfoliate your skin and get it glowing. To use the mask, apply a thin coat for up to 10 minutes and remove with a wet cloth and warm water when the time is up. Cleanse your face with one of our favorite cleansers following the mask and you’ll be left with smooth, glowing skin!
If you have sensitive skin, we recommend you use the Gentle Enzyme treatment. Made with papaya and pineapple extracts, this mask is gentle yet effective in removing dead skin cells and rejuvenating the skin. Just apply a medium thickness layer of product to your face and wait for 10 minutes. Then, remove the Gentle Enzyme treatment with a wet cloth when the time is up and follow with a cleanser for fresh and smooth skin!
After your mask or peel, enhance your skincare game by putting on a leave on exfoliant such as Exfoliating Lotion, Glycolic 10% Cream or Hydra Exfoliating Gel for an even bigger benefit to your treatment.
- Who is that Masked Woman (or Man)?
With time on your hands, why not give your face a little extra attention?
Since getting our regular facials is unfortunately not an option right now, masking once or twice every week at home can make a big difference in your skin. Our Azul skincare line has a Charcoal mask that helps detoxify the skin. We have a clay-based Hydra Recovery Mask to infuse moisture and a clay-based mask with willow bark extract for blemish-prone skin (Clear Skin Mask). The rules are easy, just apply a layer of mask, and relax for 10-20 minutes until the mask dries. Then using a warm, wet cloth gently remove the mask and rinse your face. Follow the mask with a moisturizer such as HA Peptide Serum (after the Clear Skin Mask), or Green Tea Moisturizer. Your face will thank you!
We hope these little tips can help lift your spirits during these stay at home times. Let’s face it…and we’ve said it before…if you’re going to cocoon, you might as well come out looking like a butterfly!
